Tourism should 'come out' for gays travellers

oshua O'Neil from Puffta Media will present a paper on how Australian businesses can appeal to the market at next month's Tourism Futures Conference on the Gold Coast.

He today said the gay and lesbian market could bring "billions of dollars" of yet untapped revenue to Australia.

And with economic factors leading to a slowdown in the growth of the industry, this market was among the most buoyant, with gay and lesbian travel even unaffected around September 11 when global tourism tumbled.

"We've got the money to go wherever we want to and do what we want to," Mr O'Neil said.

"We have that additional income that we're able to do that."
