Saints ace wants gay jibes ban
SAINTS champion Nathan Burke wants the AFL to outlaw attacks on gay or bisexual players.
The former St Kilda skipper and now club director wants the league to discipline and penalise offending players.
"The rules should be along the same lines as its successful racial vilification policy," Burke told the Herald Sun yesterday.
The 323-game veteran is spearheading a campaign for gay and lesbian anti-discrimination measures to be adopted by sports clubs across Victoria.
He has joined forces with a prominent activist Rob Mitchell to fight gay discrimination in sport.
Mr Mitchell said young gays and lesbians were often discouraged because of abuse.
