Divorce talks between gay former governor, estranged wife break down

Settlement negotiations between former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey and his estranged wife have broken down.

A court spokeswoman says the judge "spent the better part of the afternoon trying to resolve the matter," but to no avail. A divorce trial for the now openly gay McGreevey and Dina Matos McGreevey is set to begin tomorrow.

The case has spawned tell-all books and a series of public squabbles.
