Plot to blackmail royal over gay sex act was for revenge, court hears
A MAN accused of blackmailing a member of the Royal Family yesterday told a court he was motivated by revenge rather than money.
Scot Ian Strachan and Sean McGuigan are accused of demanding £50,000 to stop them selling videotaped claims of alleged gay sex involving the royal.
But Strachan, 31, said he had planned to expose a royal employee, known as witness D, because he was a "predatory homosexual", who had drugged and sexually assaulted him and other men.
In secretly recorded tapes, the Old Bailey previously saw D snort what was claimed to be cocaine and make derogatory remarks about the royals.
The jury heard D also claim the alleged royal blackmail target had carried out a gay sex act on him at a party.
