Count shows Obama talked less to gay press than other minority media
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has given fewer interviews to the gay press, which has had two, than to the African-American and Spanish-language media, which have had at least eight and five, respectively, according to this analysis. The Obama campaign said it had gotten its LGBT message out through a combination of the interviews, an "aggressive" outreach program in major cities, and op-eds in gay papers and print ads, and had sought to incorporate a message of LGBT equality into the candidate's speeches in nonpredominantly gay settings.
