Police complaint filed in gay-bashing attack
The former "Top Chef" contestant who Nassau police have said was the victim of a gay-bashing attack in September has filed a complaint against the police department, saying it has failed to vigorously pursue all suspects or file serious enough charges against two suspects linked to the crime.
Josie Smith-Malave, 32, of Brooklyn, who was a contestant on the second season of the Bravo network's reality program "Top Chef," says police have been dragging their feet in the investigation. It began after the Sept. 1 fight in Sea Cliff, when Smith-Malave said she and two others were attacked at a bar after patrons taunted them for being lesbians.
Smith-Malave filed the complaint against officers who responded to the scene with the Internal Affairs Division of the Nassau Police.Police complaint filed in gay-bashing attack
